Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, the spokesman for the Libyan National Army (LNA), confirmed that a cautious calm now prevails over all front lines. The LNA is now awaiting the developments, and results of the Cairo Declaration.

In his statements on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Libyan National Army in Abu Rawash, Al-Mismari pointed out that the Cairo Declaration was based on a true vision to solve the Libyan crisis, and stressed the sincerity of the LNA’s desire for a solution. He said that this initiative is closer to the Libyan culture, and restores confidence among the Libyan people.

He emphasized that the negotiations are based on the Cairo Initiative, and based on the outcomes of the Berlin Conference
“We, as soldiers, have stopped in this line, and await orders,” he said.

The spokesman said that Turkey was escalating the situation in Libya towards a crisis, transferring thousands of mercenaries and refusing a ceasefire. He noted that Turkey has taken control of a number of military bases in the country.

Al-Mismari also stressed that the red lines west of Sirte and Al-Jufra are protected, and that the LNA is ready to implement orders after the restructuring of military arrangements.

“We have carried out operations within the framework of defence, and this is a legitimate right. We do not want a solution with a Turkish or terrorist party. Turkey must exit from the Libyan scene, militarily and politically, and the militias must be demobilised and arms collected. Takfiris must also be fought and the exit of Syrian and Somali mercenaries planned”, Al-Mismari added.

The LNA’s spokesman emphasized that Egypt was the true supporter of the Libyan people. It is currently bearing the burden of the Libyan crisis due to the borders, neighbourhood, and common destiny he specified.
